Understanding IMAP vs POP

• When you add Mweb Mail to a device, you can choose IMAP or POP. Pick the one that matches how you use email.

  
  

  IMAP (recommended): Mail stays on the server and syncs across all devices. Folders, read/unread state and Sent items match Webmail.

  POP: Downloads mail to one device; may remove it from the server depending on your app settings.

  
  

  Choose IMAP if: you use multiple devices or want everything to mirror Webmail.
  Choose POP if: you prefer a single computer with local storage and backups.

  
  

  Switching from POP to IMAP (safe method)

  1. Add your account again as IMAP alongside the POP account.
  2. Create matching folders under IMAP if needed.
  3. Drag mail from POP folders into IMAP folders to upload.
  4. Wait for the upload to finish, confirm in Webmail, then remove POP.
• With IMAP, choose a storage size that fits your needs (10 GB, 25 GB, 50 GB).For sending, always use SMTP port 587 with authentication.If a recipient doesn’t get your email, ask them to check Spam/Junk and Quarantine.
