iafrica.com Email Security Update: What You Need to Know

  • To better protect iafrica.com email addresses from spoofing and email fraud, Mweb is strengthening email security.

From 1 September 2026, the iafrica.com email domain will move from a DMARC policy of p=none to p=quarantine.

This change helps receiving mail providers, such as Gmail and Outlook, verify that email sent from an @iafrica.com address is genuine. Messages that fail these checks may be delivered to the recipient's Spam or Junk folder instead of their inbox.

Do I need to do anything?

For most customers, no action is required.

You're already covered if you send email using:

    • Mweb Webmail
    • Microsoft Outlook
    • Apple Mail
    • The Mail app on your phone or tablet
    • Any email application that connects directly to your iafrica.com mailbox

You only need to make changes if you send email from your @iafrica.com address through:

    • An accounting or invoicing system (such as Sage)
    • Your website or online store
    • Gmail's Send mail as feature
    • Outlook.com configured to send as your @iafrica.com address
    • iCloud Mail configured to send as your @iafrica.com address
    • Mailchimp, SendGrid, or another bulk email service

If you use an accounting system, website, or other SMTP application

Update your outgoing email settings to the following:

    SettingValue
    Outgoing serversmtp.iafrica.com
    Port587
    SecurityTLS / STARTTLS
    UsernameYour full @iafrica.com email address
    PasswordYour normal mailbox password

If you use Gmail's "Send mail as" feature

Update Gmail to send through iafrica.com's SMTP server.

    1. Open Settings in Gmail.
    2. Select Accounts and Import.
    3. Under Send mail as, edit your @iafrica.com address.
    4. Choose to send mail through another SMTP server.
    5. Enter these settings:
    SettingValue
    SMTP serversmtp.iafrica.com
    Port587
    SecurityTLS / STARTTLS
    UsernameYour full @iafrica.com email address
    PasswordYour normal mailbox password

Save the changes and complete Gmail's verification process if prompted.

If you use Outlook.com or iCloud Mail

Outlook.com and iCloud Mail cannot send @iafrica.com email through Mweb's SMTP servers in the required way.

    Instead:

    1. Add your @iafrica.com mailbox as a separate account in your preferred email application.
    2. When sending email, choose your @iafrica.com address from the From field.

This ensures your messages are authenticated correctly.

If you use Mailchimp, SendGrid, or another bulk email service

These services cannot send email through Mweb's SMTP servers.

    Instead:

    • Use an email address from a domain that you own as the From address.
    • Set your @iafrica.com address as the Reply-To address.

This allows recipients to reply to your iafrica.com mailbox while ensuring your email passes authentication checks.

    Test your email

    After making any changes:

    1. Send a test email to a Gmail or Outlook account that you can access.
    2. Check whether the message arrives in the inbox.

If it does, your configuration is working correctly.

If the message is delivered to the Spam or Junk folder, review your outgoing email settings before sending important messages.

    Keep your account secure

    For your security:

    • Never share your email password with anyone.
    • Mweb will never ask you to send your password by email, WhatsApp, SMS, or Telegram.
    • Only enter your password directly into your email application or a trusted Mweb webpage.
